What to expect in Warwick

The Met Office expects gusts of around 45 to 55mph inland during the daytime, with gales possible at times and locally heavy rain. Winds here should be weaker than further south and west. Because many trees are still in full leaf, it warns of:

  • possible short power cuts
  • likely delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed roads and bridges
  • some bus and train journeys taking longer, or affected

The warning is yellow because the Met Office rates the impact as moderate, with a high (50–75%) chance of it happening.

Before you travel

  • Trains: live departures from Warwick and Warwick Parkway on our train times page.
  • Buses: live times for the bus station, Northgate, the castle and the station on our bus times page, and every live bus on the Warwick Live map, which also shows the River Avon level and the weather.
  • Roads: this weekend’s closures, including the streets around the Market Place for the Runaway Mop, are on our road closures page.

The Runaway Mop funfair is due in the Market Place from 5pm tonight and from 12pm on Saturday. Funfair rides can be stopped in high winds, so check before you go if the weather turns.

If the power goes off

Call 105, the free national power cut number, or check your network operator’s website. The Met Office suggests keeping a torch, batteries and a charged phone power pack to hand. If a fallen tree or cable makes a road dangerous, call 999.

Warnings can change quickly, and we’ll update this story if the Met Office changes the warning for Warwickshire. At the time of writing, no warning covers the West Midlands on Saturday or Sunday.
