Warwick Mop Fair Returns to the Market Place for Two Weekends

The Warwick Mop is on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October and the Runaway Mop on 23 and 24 October, with town centre roads and two car parks closed.

The Warwick Mop funfair is back in the Market Place and the streets around it on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, and returns a week later as the Runaway Mop on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October. The fair, which began as a hiring fair for local workers, has been part of Warwick’s October for around 700 years.

It opens at 5pm on the Fridays and at 12pm on the Saturdays. Warwick District Council’s event listing says it runs until 10.30pm; the fair’s own website says 10pm. Rides are paid for individually.

Roads and car parks closed

Market Place, Market Street, Puckering’s Lane, Brook Street, New Street, Old Square, Swan Street, The Holloway and New Bridge are closed from 4.45pm on Thursday 15 October to 11.59am on Sunday 18 October, and again from 4.45pm on Thursday 22 October to 11.59am on Sunday 25 October. Buses and cars can still leave the bus station and car park on Market Street and Puckering’s Lane.

  • New Street car park is closed for the same periods; the council suggests West Rock instead.
  • Hampton Road car park is closed until 12pm on Sunday 25 October, including for camper vans.

Our Warwick parking guide has every other car park, including two with 2 hours free. Warwick Nub News reports that police have put a dispersal order in place in the town centre from 16 to 18 October to deal with any anti-social behaviour.

Our Warwick Mop guide has the full list of times, closures and the fair’s history, and what’s on this weekend covers everything else in town.
