The Collegiate Church of St Mary towers over Warwick just east of the Market Place: a Grade I listed church with a Norman crypt, the medieval Beauchamp Chapel and a tower you can climb. Here’s when it’s open, what it costs and what to see, from the church’s own website.

Times can change for baptisms, weddings and funerals, and the church is closed to visitors on Good Friday. Check St Mary’s opening times before a special trip.
What it costs
The church is free to visit, and donations are welcome. There are charges to climb the tower and to see the Beauchamp Chapel and chancel; ask in the church for today’s prices.
What to see
- The crypt: the only part left of the Norman church founded in 1123 by Roger de Beaumont, 2nd Earl of Warwick.
- The Beauchamp Chapel: built by the Beauchamp Earls of Warwick, with the tomb effigies of Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick, Ambrose Dudley, and Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester (the “Lord Leycester” who founded the almshouse on the High Street).
- The nave and tower: rebuilt after the Great Fire of Warwick in 1693 destroyed them, and finished in 1704.
