Temporary traffic lights are in place on Myton Road in Warwick while Warwickshire County Council repairs the bridge that carries the road over the Grand Union Canal. The works started on Monday 19 October and are booked to run until Friday 20 November, so allow extra time on the A425 between Warwick and Leamington for the next four weeks.
What’s happening on Myton Road
- Where: the canal bridge on Myton Road (bridge 44 on the Grand Union), east of Myton School, towards the Leamington end.
- Traffic control: two-way temporary lights. The road stays open in both directions, one way at a time.
- When: from Monday 19 October to Friday 20 November. Warwick Nub News reports that the lights are only switched on between 9am and 3pm, which keeps them out of the morning and evening rush hours.
- On foot: the pavement is closed at the works, with a walkway provided for pedestrians.
The county council’s entry in Street Manager, the national roadworks register, lists the job as major works, with the lights in place from 9am on 19 October until 3pm on 20 November. Dates can move if the repairs take longer or finish early.
Myton School and the school run
Myton School is on the same stretch of road, and it has asked families to plan journeys and allow extra time, especially at the start of the school day, according to Nub News. Half-term (26 to 30 October) should mean quieter roads next week, but the works carry on through it.
Separately, BT has applied to do a short job on the Myton Road pavement from Friday 23 to Monday 26 October, which isn’t expected to close any part of the road.
